Dean Peak Fire Causes Additional Evacuations Acres: 4,400 Start date: June 29, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. Cause: Lightning Location: 10 miles southeast of Kingman, AZ Containment: 0 percent Fuels: Pinyon, juniper, Ponderosa pine Terrain: Steep, rugged Resources: 3 helicopters, 4 hotshot crews, 3 hand Total Personnel: 290 crews, 12 engines, 3 water tenders, 2 dozers KINGMAN, AZ – The subdivision of Pinion Pines was evacuated Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. due to increased fire activity. Around 9 p.m. last night, a shift in wind direction resulting from building thunderstorm cells caused the Dean Peak Fire to increase in activity in the direction of Pinion Pines. Fire crews including Pinion Pine Fire Department conducted a burnout operation from Old Highway 93 along the DW Ranch Road toward Pinion Pines....
